Sobre Mateo Gringo

Mateo Gringo didn’t start in a boardroom or from some perfectly planned business idea. It started working alongside different cultures, coaching soccer, traveling, embarrassing myself in multiple languages, and realizing most people are way too afraid to laugh while learning.

After years of accidentally saying the wrong thing, surviving awkward conversations, and confusing entire groups of people in Spanish and Portuguese, I started writing those moments down. Somehow those failures turned into books, apparel, football-inspired designs, and a community of people who love culture, travel, humor, and not taking themselves too seriously.

What I discovered along the way is that most of the things that bring us together happen on the other side of discomfort.

The first conversation in another language is uncomfortable. Traveling somewhere unfamiliar is uncomfortable. Being the outsider is uncomfortable. Looking foolish is uncomfortable.

But that's also where growth happens.

Mateo Gringo is built on the belief that curiosity is stronger than fear, that laughter is one of the fastest ways to connect people, and that the best way to understand another culture is to step into it with humility and an open mind.

This community isn't about being fluent. It isn't about being perfect. It's about being willing to learn, willing to listen, and willing to put yourself in situations that challenge you.

Because the more we understand each other, the smaller the world becomes.
